Goal Directed Project Management Specialists - About Us
Goal Directed Project Management (GDPM) based training, and 'in-life’ project management consultancy and facilitation are specialisms of Fast Forward Project Management.
It is becoming increasingly clear that just having an academic PM qualification does not make you a competent project manager. If you want to spend 5 days in a classroom preparing for and taking PM exams to prove your ability to store and regurgitate knowledge - then this is not the place for you!
If however you want to learn about the GDPM approach through simulation, practise the tools & techniques in a safe environment and leave our workshops with the skills to apply your learning then read on......
Whilst we fully support any method that instils elements of PM discipline and rigour we know that just sitting in classrooms preparing for and taking exams is not the solution. The measure of project management competence is not about academic standards - it’s about knowledge, application and delivery!
The key to effective learning and increased competency is doing rather than being told and we have and will continue to provide learning through simulation and practice at our unique training workshops or through our in life coaching and facilitative support. We won’t try to sell you expensive manuals, new computer systems or replace your current methodology (if you use one)!
We also provide specific project facilitation, coaching and mentoring expertise - refreshing learning through real life project initiation / mobilisation and providing sustainability for the future. We also offer virtual support (email & telephone) to those who have attended our training or workshops. We provide a unique approach to Project Management training through our knowledge sharing facilitated learning process.
Goal Directed Project Management (GDPM) is not new and has been used extensively in organisations across the world since the early 80’s. We have applied the principles with success and internally trained more than 1300 in our approach whilst working for BT; we enjoyed it so much we created our own company so that we can share our passion, skills and expertise to help other organisations. We’ve been there, done it, doing it and still learning every day!
The company was formed by 2 experienced project managers and tutors who have a combined experience of 64 years working for BT; we have alliances with other major PM training providers and access to a number of specialist GDPM consultant’s.
Our training, coaching and facilitation methods consistently receive excellent feedback as demonstrated by the sample testimonials. We are passionate about the value we add and measure our success by the volume of delegates applying what they have learnt post training. A survey of previous delegates showed that 81% had applied the learning; 82% said that it helped them set up their projects and 72% said that it had helped their projects succeed.
Research says that 80 - 90% of projects fail! So why keep doing it the same way badly?
Investment in expensive and complex PM systems and methods is a common solution adopted by many companies along with dangerous assumptions about what it takes to develop a project manager and how success will be realised.
“So does extensive lecturing in classrooms and certifications make a successful project manager; do complex methods work?”
We think not!
